A lot of things don’t measure up, but adding some old used yardsticks as a cover-up over boring paint can breathe new life into some furnishings.
This photo array shows many items that have been given a new appeal by adding different colors and styles of yardsticks.
Some of the ideas are very useful, while others are totally whimsical. There is one, in particular, I will be making.
Take a four-inch portion of the yardstick and hot glue scrabble pieces onto it, spelling out NOEL. The pieces should not be glued to the side showing the measurement in inches, however, the photo shows small white plastic or glass snowflakes glued onto that side. Make a very small hole at the top and thread some yarn through so the ornament can be hung. Too cute!
My crafting mind is a swirl with all the interesting and fun things that can be done with the yardstick!

I love the scrabble tile art that is so cool looking and you can get a scrabble game cheap at a yard sale or the DAV. Thank you for the idea I am going to make name plates with these tiles and see if people like them. I have a craft business and I have craft tables at art shows and I think this will sale really well. Thank you for the idea.
When I first saw these photos, it didn’t occur to me that these were refurbished items. I assumed they were new because that is how good they look. I won’t be given any accolades for my ingenuity, but I do think of my idea as creative: I want to arrange 4-6 picture frames on the wall in a geometrical shape with the center frame being a digital slide show frame that plays vide and music.
I can’t say enough about the creativity that was used in these wonderful decorations. Some of these have a rustic feel that appeals to many home owners. I am quite sure there are several people, perhaps many of them, who will use these ideas for their own endeavors. Teaching a man how to fish is better than giving him fish – or as that old saying goes.
