There are so many beautiful bathtubs available on the market today and I have to say I really love the vintage style clawfoot tubs the very best. A clawfoot tub brings romance to my mind’s eye.
Hollywood has utilized the bathtub to create memorable scenes in numerous movies. Some of the more famous movies that include funny or glamorous bubble filled bathtub scenes are; Scarface, The Big Lebowski, Pretty Woman and The Lost Boys, just to name a few.
The style of tub may differ in each movie, but there is one thing that is constant in each of the movies and that is that the bubbles in the bath tub are incredibly abundant.
You may have purchased some “Mr. Bubble” hoping to create a similar bubble bath for yourself or your children. But I am sure you were sadly disappointed. The bubble bath that Al Pacino had in the movie Scarface was not found in a bottle of premixed bath bubbles. The only way to get a bubble bath that has the consistency of foam is to mix it up yourself.
Some time ago we published the Hollywood Style Bubble Bath recipe on this blog. It has had so many comments and likes that we feel it is worthy of another go. You will find excerpts from the original article and an attribution at the bottom of this article.
“Homemade Hollywood Bubble Bath Recipe
1/2 cup shampoo or unscented castile soap
3/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Few Drops of Essential Oils
1/4 cup vegetable glycerin (this gives the bubbles more staying power).
Seriously, that’s it. Mix it all until you get a gel, put it in the water and stir it up while you’re filling up the tub (it’s thick enough that the water running doesn’t stir it for you). I use kid shampoo so mine even smelled super nice (Wild Watermelon) so play around and make different ‘flavors’ for your mood. I even scooped a handful up and blew on them, they didn’t pop, they floated around and stuck to the wall.
So go, make and enjoy!”
