One of the things I dread more than most things is painting. I am not one who likes to break out the rollers and the brushes, roll up my sleeves and go to work painting all day.
One way to avoid the toil that painting a room (or a home) can give is to have a “painting party”. You have to be careful and only invite those who can really be trusted with the task of painting. You will have to give instructions and be sure you have taped off everything that needs protection from “accidents”.
Proper Order of Things
It is best to paint BEFORE you lay carpet or expensive flooring, but if this cannot be avoided, be sure to use plenty of drop cloths or plastic. Also, be sure everyone knows to paint with consistent strokes and amounts of paint used. Having the right tools and taking the time to prepare the surfaces and do the taping can make all the difference in the world.
When you are done, buy a little pizza and throw a little party. Who knows, maybe they will all come back and help move furniture.
Be sure to provide all of the tools needed. It is easier to just have the tools you want to use available than to ask people to bring their own. Besides, many of the tools people have will be well-used.
