Everyone knows that when you’re at work, you’d probably rather be home but the fact is that you spend most of your time at the office. I have always loved adding my personal touches to my work areas and some employers are more lineate than others. Here are some tips to help you make your work space feel more like home.
If you have real walls, go out and get some art, frame it and hang it up. Make sure to buy something that puts you in a good mood, makes you smile or inspires your. Family pictures are also great to make a space feel personalized, but art is more intimate somehow. It will help you make the space feel personalized to you.
If you can bring your own lamp, do. Create your own lighting and either get out of the fluorescents or at least help cut the glow. It can change your mood instantly. You’ll be amazed at how quickly things will shift.
If you have room for a small rug add one. Even if you just keep it under your chair or desk it only matters that you know it’s there. You can get a super soft one and while you’re at your desk give yourself something for your toes to snuggle up in. Just make sure your feet don’t stink!
Do you have enough wall space to faux wallpaper? Plaster your cubical walls with images, fabric or nice paper.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a fake one or living, a plant will give you a little glimpse of the outside world.
Bring something super awesome to put your pens in. A unique vase or cup can brighten your space while being useful. This is a great way to spice up the workspace.
If you’re in a neutral setting, try to find a way to add some color. Something that makes you happen and will brighten your day.
