Starting Your Garden

May 26, 2015 By xmlrpc Leave a Comment

Ever wonder everything that goes into starting a garden? Let’s cover the basics of gardening so you can jump in with both feet this summer.

First, the basic elements for gardens are sunlight, water, and soil. Light is important in determining the location of your garden as well as what months you grow the vegetables you want to grow. Make sure the garden’s facing south, as that affords it the most light here in the Northern Hemisphere.

For water, you’ll want to have some kind of irrigation system, like a drip system, so that crops get the moisture they need.

Finally, you need soil with loads of nutrients for your beginning garden. If your soil isn’t naturally rich in them, you can apply fertilizer to increase it’s nutrient value.

Check out the infographic below for 5 easy crops to try growing first.
