Thanksgiving and Christmas is the biggest travel time of the year. You may have visitors heading your way in the next few days so here are some tips to help you get prepared for your holiday guests!
Figure out their food (beyond the big get-together meals)
Don’t you just hate when you go hungry while staying at someone’s house? Even if you’re great about keeping food around for guests, do you know if they are they coffee or tea folks? What they like to snack on? If they’re gluten-free or vegan? Do some reconnaissance for happy snacking.
Plan things to do inside
Will the weather outside be frightful? Today’s movie-watching technology at home means plenty of entertainment on hand, but consider finding out what kind of movies your guests are into before they visit, and load some favorites into your queue. Avoid that awkward hour of figuring out what to watch! And finding out your guests’ favorite adult beverages to relax with will go great with board games for technology-free nights.
Plan things to do outside
Don’t let holiday business hours throw any of your plans out of whack. If you have favorite restaurants and museums in mind to take guests to in between presents and meals at home, a quick check on opening hours, parking and ticket prices will help make any trips with guests in tow go smoothly. And if you’re unavailable to play tour guide, make lists for guests to take with them ahead of time.
Prepare for different temperature preferences
Some guests just won’t tell you if your house feels too hot or too cold. Check in with them often, but have plenty of cozy, warm blankets in easy reach for those folks who tend to get chilly.
