It’s spring break around the country but it’s also March which brings with it spring showers. So how do you entertain that sweet little one if they can’t run out their energy outside? Here are some suggestions for rainy day entertainment:
1. Let them burrow. Kids love to build tunnels, caves and forts. Some of my favorite memories were created by covering chairs with blankets and coloring in my ‘tent’. If chairs and blankets just aren’t cutting it, try a kid-size tepee. You can go the store-bought route or get creative with items around the house: Broomsticks and sheets should do the trick. This doesn’t even have to be a temporary space. This is great for a reading, coloring, or just a regular imagination station.
2. Build it up. Most kids love to build so give them things to do it with. My little Princess and Pixie love to stack tupperware, books, movies, pretty much anything. So shrug your shoulders and let them at it.
3. Set up a performance corner. Depending on your child, a performance corner will give you hours of entertainment. Again this doesn’t have to be temporary, but can be. Teaching kids to be comfortable in front of an audience spurs socialization and confidence. Encourage an afternoon play, concert, dance party or puppet show.
