For those of you who don’t know Macrame is a trend that hit it’s peak in the 70’s. As seen in the photo, it could get a tad out of hand (that vest is pretty epic huh?) and eventually fizzled out.
It’s a pretty simple technique that can be done with a bit of practice. Macrame is making it’s way back into current culture, but in a more modest way.
As you can see above, macrame is done by tying several knots, but today some designers are taking a more simplistic approach by tying only single knots into the rope giving the project a clean sophisticated look or by adding unexpected splashes of color which is a fresh approach to this neutral design.
The best part about macrame is that you can incorporate it into any style decor whether vintage, country, modern, colonial, ect. If done right it will look classic and modern all at the same time. But before you and your mom get to crafting together, remember, everything in moderation.
