Inviting a friend over to help can be extremely helpful. They can put some unbiased perspective on their use or beauty. So invite someone you trust over for some tea, snacks and a de-cluttering party.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, you’ve got stress. You’ve got too much on your plate, deadlines to meet, people who are counting on you, places to be, things to do! Our culture today stuffs its schedule so full of things that we hardly have time to breathe. But with responsibility comes stress. This can effect your work and quality of life. The only difference between those who are successful and those who aren’t depends on how you deal with stress when it comes.
Cut yourself some slack. Being willing to look at your mistakes and failures with kindness and understanding is key. Studies show that people who are self-compassionate are happier, more optimistic and less anxious and depressed. Most of us believe that we need to be hard on ourselves to perform our best but it turns out that’s not true. In fact those who give themselves a little TLC tend to be more successful. Self-compassion when things are tough can reduce stress and improve your performance which makes it easier to learn from your mistakes.
Thinking about the big picture about your work can be energizing in the face of stress and challenge. If you link one small action with a greater meaning or purpose it can take something that may not seem important or valuable and cast new light on the situation. So when you have to stay to work for an extra hour, look at it as helping your career instead of staying late. This will help you stay put and work hard.
Our minds can’t help but throwing out “what if” situations. It’s normal to worry. However, when we stop with the question we allow fear, sadness, fatigue, self-doubt and disgust to sink in. So next time you ask yourself a question, answer it. This helps you stay relaxed and prepared when those stressful situations arise.
