Here is one of the coolest DIY ideas I have seen in a while. It’s truly one that makes you wonder why the idea hasn’t come around sooner.
A comfy little chair swing is such a neat idea and so easy to find the goods to make it.
Single wood chairs can be found at resale shops, yard sales, auctions or maybe in your attic or on the porch. These step-by-step instructions are very good. They even list where to get a bulk of nylon rope and what a good price is for it.
- Of course, step one is to get the chair. As I mentioned, the Salvation Army Thrift Store, yard sale, etc are great places to find a lone wood chair.
- Choose a color and paint the chair. The article specifies using spray paint. Be sure to use some fine sandpaper to remove any gloss from a previous varnish or paint job so the new coat of paint will adhere. Also, apply a clear coat to finish it off so the swing will continue to look nice even after it has weathered.
- Screw the chair from the bottom to a wood wide, rectangular piece of wood (perhaps the original swing seat). For appearances, paint the piece of wood to match the chair swing.
Now the process gets a tiny bit complicated, so reading the entire article is going to be the best bet for getting a great looking and functional chair swing. This swing will look inviting and will bring much enjoyment to children and adults alike.
