Home Designing chose some creative interiors that creatively blur the lines between modern and retro elements. The first, by Katarina Rulinskaya, combines a brown sofa with a more modernist pair of white chairs against a light-colored background. A black arc lamp, twin Formakami JH pendants and a fireplace complete the mixture of modernity and classic chic. The second is a collaboration between Rulinskaya and Magdalena Radałowicz Zadrzyńska. It includes a distinctive white marble coffee table, lots of additional white marble elsewhere, and some excellent wood paneling to achieve it’s own unique look.
Key Takeaways:
-
- Retro silhouettes and traditional wood grain pieces furnish the homes, but it is a modern feel that overrules in each.
-
- Small, personal items create a cozy space.
-
- Color is used sparingly in both of these two homes, yet the spaces do not appear desaturated or plain.
“Two Formakami JH pendants hang low over a brown sofa in the living room of home design number one; the shades look sculptural in a silhouette that nods to both retro and modern aesthetics.”
