Watering with a soaker hose is more cost and environmentally friendly than watering with a regular hose or sprinklers which can cause run-off, over spray and is prone to evaporation.  Soaker hoses emit water exactly where thirsty plants need it most – at their roots. It’s far more efficient than watering with an ordinary garden hose.  You can use a soaker hose in tandem with an inexpensive hose timer affixed to your faucet. And aided by the cover of 2 to 3 inches of mulch to help retain moisture, a soaker hose will ensure your garden receives a proper watering at regular intervals without you having to worry about it.
