Energy Efficiency in Bathroom Lighting

When designing the lighting in your bathroom, are you taking into consideration how energy efficient it is? There can be a lot of savings on your electricity bill if you install energy efficient light bulbs over normal ones. In this post, we’ll talk about which bulbs are best for reducing your electrical use. In addition, we’ll investigate other aspects of bulbs, such as color temperature. We’ll also cover what the various uses of lighting are. Finally, we’ll give some information on the winner of energy efficiency light bulbs, the LED light.

In determining energy efficiency, we must first consider the light efficacy of each bulb. Light efficacy is a simple concept: it is the amount of light produced (measured in lumens) compared to the amount of electricity used. Which light bulbs do the best? As mentioned above, LED have the most efficacy. The next efficient are compact fluorescents. Third, fourth and fifth are regular fluorescents, halogens, and incandescents, respectively. As far as getting bang for you buck, LED lights are the way to go.

But we must consider other things, such as color temperature. There are two ends of the color temperature spectrum: warm and cool. Warm light is good for a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere, suitable for dining rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms. Cool light, on the other hand, is appropriate when clear light is needed, such as in places like the kitchen or bathrooms. Warm lights include warm white fluorescent bulbs, while cool white fluorescent occupy the opposite side ofthe spectrum.

You also should know the 3 uses of lighting: accent lighting, ambient lighting, and task lighting. Accent lighting is used to draw attention to a focal point of the room, such as a wall hanging, painting, or display case. Ambient lighting is your general lighting, designed for functionality. Task lighting is used in places where a lot of light is necessary, such as at desks or in front of bathroom mirrors. Be sure to take into account the needs of each of these types of lighting in your design.

Now that we’ve covered the basics of lighting, let’s explore LED lights, the most efficient of the bunch. LED, which means light-emitting diode, is more durable and has better light quality than the majority of other options, as well as having more efficacy. It uses 75% less energy than incandescent lights, if you can believe it, and lasts up to 25 times as long! That adds up to a lot of savings over the years. Also, due to its superior light quality, you may get fewer headaches and less fatigue when seeing by it.
