Now you know more about plumbing from our last post on its history, it’s time to address how to properly go about maintenance. Plumbing maintenance can be a gross job, but considering its importance for you house’s sanitation, its paramount that you should stay on top of it!
Let’s go over some things that you should do. For one, know where your plumbing is located in the house. This includes the shutoff valves and meters as well as roughly where the pipes are, so you can identify where problems might be happening. Also, check everything regularly – doing it with the change of the season is a good way to keep on top of it. Regularly clean and use protective products to prolong the life of your appliances.
Some things you shouldn’t do are pretty obvious, like not throwing things in the toilet that can’t flush, but also not neglecting to maintain things like your water heater and gutters. And remember, don’t try to fix something if you don’t think you can do a good job of it! You’ll save more money in the long-run by calling a professional to get it done right.
