Healthy Beauty Tips

It seems that these days everything is focused around beauty and all the miracle products that will tuck, suck, tone and revitalize. But what do you do when you don’t have a budget set out for all the department store concoctions?  Well, you look up how to do it naturally.  Not only is it better for you and your skin, it’s made of things that you can actually pronounce and it’s less expensive!    So here are some “how-to” beauty tips from WebMD.com

How to get thick lashes.

Apply 3 coats of mascara: First, sweep up from the base to the end of the lash. Next, go from tip to base. Then, brush across the lashes.

Try this spicy facial to soothe dry, irritated skin.

Mix together:

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 6 oz  plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • Spread on clean skin. Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse.

How to Get a Natural Glow

Brush highlighting powder on the tops of your cheekbones and under your eyes to brighten your face.

How to Create Smoky Eyes

Use a soft black kohl pencil on the rim of your upper lash line. Smudge dark shadow on the lid and under the lower lash line.

How to Nix a Double Chin in Pics

Turn your head slightly and drop your chin so your face is not completely square with the camera.

How to Soften Rough Feet

Use a foot scrub made from botanicals such as crushed fruit pits and sugar. Finish with a rich shea-butter or cocoa-butter cream.

How to Make Lemon Facial Toner

Combine ingredients in a bottle and seal with a stopper.

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Grated zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 2/3 cup witch hazel

How to Choose Your Ideal Nail Shape

Oval shaped nails flatter most hands, while square nails look best on long fingers. Want a softer look? Try a round shape.

How to Freshen Up Quickly

Run a bottle of hydrating mist under cool water. Then, spray it on your face to energize your skin.

How to Prevent Wrinkles Around Your Mouth

Shield your skin from the sun and eat antioxidant-rich foods. This helps keep collagen and elastin below the surface of your skin strong.

How to Test a New Skin Product

Dab a small amount on your inner arm twice a day for 5 days. If you do not have a reaction, it is likely safe to apply to your face.

How to Protect Your Hair From Styling Tools

Coat hair with a silicone-based product. When it’s dry, divide it into sections. Don’t use the iron for more than 4 seconds per section.

How to Fake a Flawless Complexion

Wear a warm, pink shade of lipstick. It draws attention away from blemishes.

How to Cleanse Dry Skin

Keep showers short. Use unscented cleanser and warm water, not hot. Pat your skin with a towel, leaving it damp. Apply moisturizer within 5 minutes.

How to Make Your Own Natural Tooth Paste

You’ll need:

Mix the baking soda and salt. Add a drop of essential oil for flavor.

How to Tell if Your Makeup Brush Is Bad

Dip the brush in shadow or blush. If color falls off before you get the brush to your face, it’s no good.

How to Choose the Best Red Lipstick

Fair skin needs a bluish red, medium skin looks good in brick red, and dark skin can wear a brownish red.

How to Avoid Razor Bumps

Apply a glycolic acid-based shaving cream. Using a single-blade razor, shave with the direction of hair growth.

How to Hide a Pimple

The same drops that work on red eyes will reduce the redness of a pimple. Just dab it on with a cotton swab, then top with foundation and concealer.

How to Beat Breakouts

Use skin-care products as directed. Too much of an active ingredient can lead to clogged pores and blotchy skin.

How to Make a Bold Statement

Draw a thick amethyst or green line on top of your usual daytime eyeliner. Stay close to the lash line.

How to Make Your Own Exfoliation Scrub

Mix a teaspoon of white sugar, corn meal, baking soda, or cooled coffee grounds into your daily cleanser.

How to Chill Out Puffy Eyes

Put crushed ice in a washcloth and apply it under your eyes.

How to Thicken Brows

Using a powder-based eye pencil similar to your hair color, make light dashes on your brows and blend them in with a brow comb.

  • 3 parts baking soda
  • 1 part salt
  • 1 drop peppermint essential oil
