Have the fruit flies been lingering around your kitchen this summer? If so, we have some tips for establishing a fruit fly free zone! By both preventing and combating the flies, you can achieve that kitchen idea.
For preventing flies from getting in, seal doors and windows as best you can, and don’t leave any open without a screen. Also, make sure to cover any compost bins you have in the house, as these will be a place where fruit flies can congregate. Lastly, cover any open fruit bowls to protect your fruit and not attract the flies.
To get rid of flies already around, you can either use store bought traps or make your own. A homemade fruit fly trap can be made by putting a combination of 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water into a jar, then cover the jar with plastic wrap, and poke holes in it. The vinegar will attract the flies while the water will drown them.
