Winter Snow can be difficult to get around in, especially when it snows enough to trap a car and prevent you from getting to work.
The free your car safely from the grip of snow here is what you will need:
- Warm clothes and gloves
- Snow shovel
- Someone to push
- A Lighter
- Window scraper
Step 1
Dress warmly in layers. Take a look at your car and decide which direction you want the car to face when you are finished.
Step 2
Shovel a path to the drivers side door and around the car, be sure to place shoveled snow away from the car. Make sure you are lifting the shovel with your legs, not your back.
Step 3
Start your car and turn your defroster to high, make sure your car is in park and parking break is engaged. If the lock is frozen, heat your key with a lighter before inserting it.
Step 4
Begin removing the snow from under the car, again, making sure the shoveled snow will not obstruct the cars pulling away from the parking spot.
Step 5
Shovel the snow from around the tires, in front and in back of each tire, paying particular attention to the front tires if the car is front wheel drive.
Step 6
Shovel the snow in the street in front of and behind the car, use the scrapper to clean off the windshield, rear and side windows. Clear the snow away from the headlights and taillights. Try to drive the car out, put your car in low gear and don’t floor it.
Step 7
If you can’t get traction, rock the car, shift between forward and reverse or get someone to push your car while you apply the gas.
