Porcelain is a great addition to the choices for bathroom vanity countertops. Marble and granite are beautiful but can be too costly for some homeowners.
Porcelain is a great alternative because it is similar in appearance and feel. Additionally, porcelain is very durable, but, it does require some care.
A porcelain countertop could crack or chip if heavy objects are dropped on it. Any porcelain countertop will have had a protective glaze applied to create a high gloss. The surface can scratch if something sharp is scrapped against or jabbed into it. In some instances, the countertop could be repaired, however, being careful is the best policy.
To keep the porcelain countertop looking good, some simple cleaning instructions should be followed.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scratch pads- the glaze can be scratched or become dull.
- Use gentle cleansers that are approved for fine surfaces. Read labels before using.
- Squirt some liquid dish soap into a pail of water and wetting a soft rag should be enough to clean most porcelain items. Wiping down the surface on a regular basis will prevent the need for scrubbing with elbow grease.
Proper care of your porcelain countertop will allow you to have a lovely bathroom vanity for a long time.
