The Kallals are a family of six who live in a dome-like home. They moved into this home in 2013 when the architecture of the place resembled that of the 70s. An architect named Adam Rasmussen helped the Kallal’s redesign their home by taking out some walls and opening up some space to let light in. Ultimately their redesigned home has a modern layout. However, the dome structure of the house itself posed some challenges such as the structure itself was difficult to work with and the ventilation was different to that of a normal home. Rasmussen kept some undertones of the old home design while updating the look of the home.
Key Takeaways:
- The Kallal’s, a Minnesota family, transformed their mid century dome house into a contemporary home that fits their fun-loving and quirky nature.
- By knocking out many of the home’s walls, they created a more open living room and kitchen space that fit the family’s lifestyle perfectly.
- They swapped out the original stone fireplace and replaced it with a more energy efficient three-sided model, covering it in rusty blue American Clay.
