Have you ever seen someone on TV or in the movies take a bubble bath and wonder “how did they get those kind of bubbles!?” I always do. See I love me a good bubble bath, but the store bought variety is…lacking. I’ve always wanted to take a bath in bubbles that would cover me from head to toe and not fizzle out within the first five minutes.
Yesterday my daughter wanted to play a game called “Nice Things Agent” where you pick a family member’s name out of a hat and do something nice for them without being caught. After, you all gather around and guess who did the nice thing for you, and then they tell you where your nice thing is, but not WHAT it is. Mr. Sthole drew my name out of the hat and decided to draw me a bubble bath. He looked online to find a recipe for bubble bath and he found one that was simply amazing. The bubbles were so thick, lasted for a very long time (I even drained some of the cold water and added more hot into it and they STILL kept on bubbling!) and I could even play with them without popping. Everything he used was natural of course which is an added bonus. All you need is:
Homemade Bubble Bath Recipe UPDATED!
1/2 cup shampoo or unscented castile soap
3/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Few Drops of Essential Oils
1/4 cup vegetable glycerin (this gives the bubbles more staying power).
Seriously, that’s it. Mix it all until you get a gel, put it in the water and stir it up while you’re filling up the tub (it’s thick enough that the water running doesn’t stir it for you). I use kid shampoo so mine even smelled super nice (Wild Watermelon) so play around and make different ‘flavors’ for your mood. I even scooped a handful up and blew on them, they didn’t pop, they floated around and stuck to the wall.
So go, make and enjoy!
P.S. Sorry about the picture of me in the tub, but I didn’t know if you’d believe me about these bubbles if you didn’t see them for yourself .
This really works y’all!! Super excited! Thank u very much for sharing! (: (:(:(:
Hi!
I was wondering, what type of salt do you use for this recipe? Is table salt okay or do I need something else?
Thank you!!
Sea Salt is the best to use
Help! I’ve read and re read the recipe. Mine is as thin as water, not thick. And it would dilute easily with the water. Could this be correct?
You can skip the water and salt, because they add nothing to the performance of the product, and just use the shampoo as is.
Can you make this using body wash rather than shampoo?
The recipe has been updates. Take a look at some of the new additions.
How much does this make and what type of salt do u use.
So are the bubbles from Castile soap recipe or the commercial shampoo? I think there are other ingredients in commercial products that I am trying to avoid but I think are what are ultimately responsible for the bubbles. Thanks!
