Grout is a mixture of water, cement, and other rough materials used in a variety of ways in the average home, although most often it is used to fill the empty spaces between tiles. Grout hardens after it is applied and because of its make up, can be quite a chore to remove. The tools necessary will vary depending on how big of a job you’re attempting, and how spaced out the tiles are that the grout is separating. However, it is really just a matter of whether you’re doing the scraping or if you have an electric tool to do it for you. The removal of old grout is imperative before laying any new grout down.
After the space between the tiles is clear you can begin laying new grout down. This will come in either a pre mixed form or a powder which you can mix yourself. Both will achieve the same effect so go with whatever option your time and budget allows.
