The number for the landlord, the handyman, your pediatrician, the next door neighbor, the vet, these are all things that someone who is watching your children, your dog, or just your houseplants may need to know. Grabbing a few menus for favorite local delivery services and a few favorites that are within walking distance is a great extra.
Creating a home journal is a handy thing to have especially if you’re going out on the town, or out of town and will become a handy reference tool with everything to do with your home.
Making your own is easy enough and all you have to grab is a three ring binder, a note book and a few dividers. While you may want to adapt this for your needs here are some suggested items for your home journal:
- A basic introduction and list of instructions
- A list of relevant phone numbers
- Menus from local places that deliver
- Warranties and instructions for major appliances and any receipts that may be needed
- A list of things that may need to be done around the house while you’re gone (air conditioner filter, trash days, sprinkler system timers, ect.)
You can put anything in your home journal that may help you or a sitter such as kids school information, homeowner’s insurance information, and anything else you may need to reference regularly.
This is such a great idea! I’m sure I’ve got a binder around here somewhere so when I’m done typing for all of you I may get to work on these things!
