If you’re going for a rustic or farmhouse bathroom decor, this DIY brick veneer project may be just the thing you need to add to your bathroom’s charm. Check out the steps to complete it below!
To avoid needing major structural changes, we use a thin brick veneer instead of regular bricks. The one thing this brick veneer needs is a ledger, a wood plank that is used as a straightedge at the bottom of the wall.
When it comes to laying the brick, you need to decide whether you are going to have space between the bricks or if you are going to dry stack them. You should also decide what pattern you’re going for. Here, we use the traditional subway style, where rows are alternated half a brick off the other.
Starting at the edge of the wall, alternate placing whole tiles and half tiles. Use 3/8″ wood strips to space the bricks unless you’re dry stacking. It’s okay if there are some imperfections – they’ll just add to the rustic look!
Finally, add mortar to joints. You can add a finish for a more polished look, or leave it unfinished for a rustic one. To see how this project is done, check out the attached video.
