Crash Course in Plumbing Facts

June 10, 2015 By xmlrpc Leave a Comment

Do know when the modern toilet was invented? Or when the first sewer systems arose? This post, we’ll cover both of those and a few more facts you should know about plumbing. It’s all about appreciation for the conveniences have today!

The first sewer systems were aided by the use of aqueducts. Greece was the first to use them in the 7th Century BCE, but the ancient Romans were the ones that really made it into a water delivery force throughout their cities.

Those ancient systems still didn’t allow for the flush toilet, the great Western convenience. This was invented in 1596 by Sir John Harrington, though it wasn’t until 1890 that they were cheap enough for people in the middle and lower classes to buy them.

We hope you learned a bit more about plumbing and have a greater appreciation for the modern toilet!
