This infographic gives the short of which countertop material is most durable, cost effective, and adaptable (*hint* it’s laminate!). Let’s take a look at the categories of durability.
Durability includes how well the material stands up to heat, scratching, moisture, and weight, as well as maintenance requirements like easiness to clean, longevity, and stain resistance. Of these, vanite wins out with granite at a close second. Vanite is a type of quartz that is in plentiful supply around the world. It will still cost you as much as granite though.
Despite its lackluster performance in durability, laminate is still the best budget option, winning both in adaptability and cost effectiveness. There are over 1,000 colors and textures of laminate and it’s cost is a fraction of other materials.
