Rooms that are designed as fanciful or offbeat are sometimes called boho or Bohemian style. Pair flamboyant wall paper with eclectic furnishings and create a marvelous mix of whimsy and adventure.
Mix and match textures, styles and color pallet, anything is acceptable when designing for yourself. Boho rooms will typically have lots of color, muted, bold, bright and dark. There can be layers of cloth on tables, on the backs of sofas and chairs. Window coverings will often flow to the floor and patterns may or may not match. Each piece of padded furniture may be different, but will fit into the overall scheme of the room, because of its eclectic design.
Patterns from around the world are put together with all your favorite things and the joining of these create a carefully planned appearance of being thrown together. Boho can have a bit of a hippie look with peace signs and Indian blankets. Picture frames should never match and should have photos of family, friends and memories. There should be vintage linens, old lamps, aged books stacked on a table or on the floor. The room should have a general air of mismatchiness!
