I talk a lot about how amazing our bathroom vanities are. But another thing that you need to know is that we can also provide you with a beautiful high quality vanity faucet as well.
Quality
If you have ever been in a bathroom that has cheap bathroom fixtures you will totally understand what I am about to say. It is very important to NOT scrimp on faucets in the bathroom. The low end, “cost effective” faucets found in local hardware stores are likely a very bad choice if you want a faucet that will last any time at all. Some of the faucets are so shiny and look great, but when they are installed onto the vanity they can’t stand up to the needs of your family.
Be sure that the faucet you purchase is solid brass. The faucet won’t look like brass because it will have some type of finish on it, like brushed nickel or chrome, or oil rubbed bronze. Underneath the outside finish is really the most important part of the faucet. It must be made of brass or it simply wont’t last. There are some vanity faucets that feel like they are made of plastic. A solid brass faucet will be heavy so you can know that the faucet is made of good stuff.
How Many Holes?
The countertop of the vanity will determine the type of faucet you need. You will see pre-drilled holes in the countertop that will show you whether you need to purchase a Single Stem Faucet (like the featured photo), a Center Set Two Handle Faucet or a Wide Spread Three Hole.
The single stem faucet is very self-explanatory. There will be one hole in the countertop located behind the sink. The faucet will be short if the sink is a basin or undermount style. For vanities that have vessel type sinks, you will need to look at tall faucets, eleven or more inches tall, in fact. If there are three holes in the countertop, the distance between the holes will determine whether you need a center set or wide spread faucet.
The three holes for a center set two handle faucet are closer together since the entire faucet is one piece and the base of the faucet will cover the holes. Holes for the wide spread faucet are drilled further apart and the faucet is actually three separate pieces; two handles and a stem or spigot.
Decor
Just because the holes on the countertop determines the faucet style, you don’t have to give up on style. I previously mentioned that there are usual, popular finishes on the faucets you see everywhere. But the appearance of each style is also different. The handles and spigot are typically what attracts or deflects people when looking at a vanity faucet. Handles can curve up or down, be slim or thick and some have porcelain handles. A spigot can also be varied, in that, they can be wide where the water comes our or they can be slim like the stem.
Another option is that the spigot can be elongated or rounded so the water flows in a cascading or waterfall effect.
