In this day and age you just can’t get around having a TV so how do you incorporate it into your décor? Everyone, and situation, is different so this article has put together 9 ways to design around your TV.
- Position the tv above your electronics consol and then surround it with a group of artwork drawing your eye away from the big black box and to the symmetrical or asymmetrical format surrounding it. This is what I call a two-fer because you distract from the TV and draw attention to your favorite images.
- Bookcases enclose the TV and visually frame it with a vertical placement. Flanking your TV with bookcases and then filling the shelves with decorative objects balances the weight of the big screen and makes the TV less dominant in the room.
- Framing your TV uses it as a focal point and gives it some pizzaz. You can frame it in almost any décor style to your home and needs.
- Again, making the TV the focal point in the room is becoming increasingly popular. Mounting the TV over the fireplace draws your eye to both establishing them as one.
- Creating a niche in the existing wall would require you to reframe the room or plan aheas when you’re remodeling but is a great and subtle way to use architecture to create a frame for your television.
- If you don’t have a lot of room or can’t mount your set, incorporate your screen onto a bookshelf and then surround it with every day objects making the TV part of the décor.
- If you just can’t stand looking at that big black box when it’s off you can find a clever disguise to hide it when it’s not in use. Sliding doors or artwork placed in front of it are two great ways to hide your TV.
- Using textures, patterns and colors in the other parts of your room draws your attention away from the TV and into the other part of your space. This prevents the focus from remaining solely on the TV.
- Ultimately there is no need to be shy about mounting your TV and “owning” it’s presence. We all have them, we all use them, so embrace it and hang your TV high and without apology.
