5 Cold Weather Workout Tips

For those who are compelled to continue their rigorous workout even during the coldest days of the year, here are a few tips to keep you safe and healthy.

  • Follow the 15 degree rule, if the outside temperature is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit do your workout indoors.
  • Run only on an a snow and ice free path. It is too difficult to know what the terrain is if you can’t see the ground.
  • Don’t bundle up too much for running outside, you will get too hot.
  • Do your warm-up inside before getting out in the cold, it will help avoid pulling muscles.
  • Drink plenty of water. In the winter, we tend to drink less water, but a work out requires re-hydration.
