4 Bathroom Layouts

June 3, 2015 By xmlrpc Leave a Comment

A well-designed bathroom is the key to getting exactly the things you want in it and making it look great. The design of the bathroom, however, very much depends on the amount of space available. To aid you in designing within various space limits, we will cover the 4 most common bathroom layouts: the half-bath, the three-quarter bathroom, the full bathroom, and the master bathroom. Recognizing how much you can accomplish in your space and how to fully utilize your space will make all the difference in your bathroom remodeling project!

First, let’s look at the half-bath. All you can fit in this bathroom that puts the closet in water closet are a sink and toilet. It’s important to use elements of home decor that produce the illusion of space. These include light tones and colors, mirrors, and a continuity of the line of floor tiles and walls. Another key is to use a toilet and sink that maximize space. For example, a corner sink is perfect for making the most of what you have.

Next up is the three-quarter bath. This is the big brother of the half-bath, which means it is big enough for a shower. Three-quarter bathrooms are good to have as a second bathroom in the home so not everybody is vying for the same shower or tub in the morning. Even though it’s a bit bigger, don’t go overboard with decorating – it’s still small enough that too many items can cause unpleasing visual clutter. Tuck the shower into a corner opposite the door. If you have room, consider putting in a closet or cabinet.

Now we finally get to the full bath. For this we get a tub in addition to the other basic elements. Since there is a bit more space, consider a recessed wall storage cabinet for a nice look and to maximize floor space. Also, even though you now have space for a bath, don’t go overboard on the size – this isn’t the master bathroom!

Speaking of the master bathroom, what’s the deal with it? This is the mother, or grandmother, or maybe even queen of all bathrooms. Seeing as it is usually meant for a couple, there are two sinks in addition to the other elements. Use this space to get a nice tub (be sure to check out our selection at the The Tub Connection!) and decorate your bathroom how you want it. Since two people may be using it at the same time, you may want to consider a privacy wall around the toilet. Also, if you have enough room, having a separate shower and tub makes for a nice feel.

We hope these layouts were helpful to you in your bathroom remodeling. As always, consider The Tub Connection for your tubs and bathroom furnishings!
