As many of you know now, because of our recent articles and articles posted by other sites, the interior color of the year is emerald green. But how do you incorporate these new trends and look like you’re keeping up with all the latest without spending a ton of dough?
Paint an accent wall in your entry way, powder room or in the kitchen. You can also paint the backs of tall bookshelves, the end of a hallway or even your friend door. This can be painted over with primer when the next color comes along.
If painting isn’t your thing, try recovering or making a slip cover for already existing throw pillows. There are so many great fabric choices to choose from and if you make your own, you can be sure to pull in other elements from your room as well.
You can also paint a piece of furniture. Try branching out from your solids by using polka dots (another trend) stripes or chevron patterns.
Add small accessories like vases, frames, lamps, rugs trays, throws art, ect. These small accessories make a big impact with out turning your whole room upside down.
The great thing about this new color is it’s natural. Add a lot of green plans to your space, especially if you have a light interior. It’s a simple and natural way to introduce green into your home.
Set your table with emerald. Napkins, table runners, place mats, glassware, flatware or dishes can coordinate with what you already have and isn’t a big commitment as far as décor goes. You can take it off the table as you need to.
You can use fabric to do just about anything such as create fabric wall art, line the back of a bookshelf, make a valance, a table square or recover some seating. Using emerald to complete these projects couldn’t be simpler than a little time and a trip to JoAnne’s or Michael’s!
Adding some emerald detail is small but makes a big impact. Look for knobs, hooks or other small pieces that will be sure to get a double take.
