Tabata- The Four Minute Work-out:
Super short workouts can bring lasting results but to burn fat in just four minutes will require you to work harder than you thought was possible. Start with a 5-minute work out and then push yourself. Run in place, jump rope or do squats for 20 seconds. Rest for 10 seconds and repeat. Do 4-8 cycles.
Sprint Triathlon:
If you want to do a triathlon but don’t have enough hours to train try a shorter version. A sprint triathlon is a half mile swim, 12 miles bike ride and 3 mile run. In a triathlon relay, team members work together to complete a regular triathlon.
Bootie Ballet:
Using ballet moves can sculpt a strong lean shape. This simple workout can tighten your midsection, and boost your strength. Studios offer classes or you can follow a video at home.
Tough Mudder:
Imagine getting your workout, Survivor style. Only the fit and fearless can take on an obstacle race. In Tough Mudder you crawl through an obstacle course in the mud, climb 12 foot walls and swim in icy water. Train for at least 8 hours a week with sprints, squats, push-ups and weights. Rest between short bursts of exercise.
Rebounding:
Trampolines aren’t just for the kids anymore. Try a cardio class on a trampoline. You’ll burn fat with the extra bounces in your step and it’s gentle on your joints. You can accomplish this with a mini-trampoline at home.
Elite Fitness:
Hard-core fitness programs have come bursting onto the scene. Elite Fitness, P90X and Insanity all use the same method known as “muscle confusion” by switching up exercises, adding new moves and include jump training or plyometrics.
Flywheel:
This high-tech spin class puts extra heat into the workout. Flywheel bikes have sensors that check how hard you’re working. Using this information, your name and stats flash across a large screen urging those in the class to compete against each other.
Kranking:
Cycling isn’t just for your feet now, this workout uses your hands for the pedaling for an intense upper body workout. It builds strength and tones your arms, shoulders, pecks and upper back. Krank in a standing position and you can burn as many calories as you would from an intense lower body cardio work out. You can use Kranking in combination to even out your lower and upper body strength
Zumba:
A Latin based high energy dance fitness class moves your body to an international beat so that you can dance the pounds away in a fast paced fun filled workout.
CrossFit:
You can burn about 15 calories per minute with this intense workout. This workout contains a combination of squats, push-ups, gymnastic rings, intense runs and weightlifting.
ViPR:
Using a heavy rubber tube to lift, push, twish and work your whole body this workout with build strength and fitness for your every day life. This workout is perfect for anyone no matter what kind of shape your body is in.
Kettlebells:
This new cast iron weight system works muscles in a way that weight machines and barbells can’t. Form is important to prevent injury so a trainer at your local gym to show you how to properly use them.
Jumping Shoes:
This workout helps put a spring in your step to help take the stress off of your joints. Kangoo Jumps are boots with springs on the soles. Picture something like grown-up moon shoes. You can job, do aerobics or other exercises in these while burning calories and giving your body a little extra TLC. However if you have high blood pressure, balance problems or are pregnant you should probably stick to spring-less shoes for the time being.
Boot Camp:
This is basic training without the drill sergeant. There’s no fancy equipment just a series of push-ups squats, kicks and other calisthenics and aerobic movements. You’ll burn about 10 calories a minute, that’s 600 in an hour and will get a total body workout.
Aerial Yoga:
This fitness trend blends yoga and acrobatics helping you relieve aching joints, stretch muscles and strengthening your core.
Floating Yoga:
Adding your yoga moves and your paddleboard takes muscle control. Paddle out and see how long you can avoid making a splash while taking in the beautiful atmosphere. Of course anchor yourself to keep from getting carried away.
Exergaming:
One of the hottest trends right now is gaming while you work out. Virtual boxing, vigorously dancing and other work out video games are the easiest way to combine a great new workout with a system you already have.
Boxercise:
Boxing training is a great way to increase balance, agility, muscle tone, strength and cardio. Be sure to protect your thumbs, knuckles and shins.
Hula:
These new weighted hula hoops are easier to swing than the plastic child versions and can burn more calories than step aerobis and raise your heart rate as much as cardio kick boxing.
Weighted Vests:
Adding weight may be the simplest way to boost your workout. The extra weight makes your burn more calories and raises your heart rate. Consider wearing a weighted vest that is 5%-10% of your body weight.
Techno Trainer:
Can’t afford a personal trainer? There’s an app for that! Fightness trackers can measure your steps, calories burned and calories you eat. They can monitor you sleep and the information can be downloaded and tracked on your computer
