Every year, patterns come and go. As 2012 comes to a close lets take a look at the most popular of this season.
Modern Floral:
Floral prints have been around for ages and though they seem to pop up every few years, there’s always a new twist. Good-bye soft delicate pinks and yellows! This year the floral print made a splash with big bold colors and shapes. Adding movement and fun to any room, the Modern floral print adds personality to your space.
Greek Key:
On the opposite plane the Greek key pattern adds clean, modern lines to your room. Because it’s a less invasive pattern, you can find it — or put it, on just about anything ranging from your dishes to blankets to cupboards. Whether in muted tones on a rug or bold bright colors on your pillows, the Greek key pattern adds a little movement and design to give your room a classic and contemporary style.
Faux Bois:
Also known as false wood, this pattern is perfect to pair with a seemingly boring, solid color. It adds a touch of texture and earth to any space. Again because it’s more of a muted pattern you can take it and use it on your wall or floor or small and use it on your blankets and pillows.
Ikat:
This pattern is a little trickier to pin down. Ikat is more of a technique than a pattern that uses a dying process similar to tie-dye so that the finished product looks like the clean lines of the pattern have been smudged. Luckily because there are so many different patterns in this …pattern, finding one that matches your décor and personal preferences should be easy.
Houndstooth:
Usually seen in black and white, this pattern hasn’t left the south but has begun to pop back up all around the country. This pattern is used on large and small scales and has a more traditional feel. Whether on a chair, coats, purses or wall paper, this pattern adds a touch of class and tradition to anything it touches.
